Explore one of Little Three Mine’s richest pegmatite zones!

 Join us for an exclusive dig at the Spessartine Ledge, a highly productive area known for its vibrant spessartine garnets, brilliant quartz crystals, and an exciting mix of rare minerals. Past discoveries in this zone include apatite, schorl, axinite, tourmaline, tantalate, and zeolites—making it a dream location for collectors, beginners, and seasoned rockhounds alike.

 

Spend the day learning the geology of the ledge, identifying minerals in the field, and uncovering your own one-of-a-kind specimens to take home.

 

Pricing & Reservation Details:

 

$200 per person

 

Payment via Shopify/ PayPal or Venmo is required to hold your space.

Rain policy: If weather forces a cancellation, the dig will be rescheduled or a refund will be offered.

Age Requirement: Participants must be 7+ years old.

Waiver: All guests must sign a waiver and release form prior to beginning the tour.

 

 

What to Expect:

Time: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Saturday)

 

Group Size: Maximum 6 participants per dig — spots fill fast!

First come, first served.

What to Bring:

• Tools (rock hammer, chisels, buckets, gloves)

• Packed lunch

• Plenty of water

Little Three Mine – Dig Day FAQ

 

Where is the mine located?

Little Three Mine is located in Ramona, California. Exact directions and parking instructions will be emailed 1 week before dig  

 

What time does the dig run?

All dig days run from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and waiver signing.

 

What should I bring?

We recommend:

Rock hammer, chisels, buckets, gloves

Boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes

Hat and sun protection

Water & lunch/snacks

Knee pads or small kneeling mat (optional but helpful)

Tools are not provided.

 

Are there bathrooms?

Yes — clean onsite bathrooms are available.

 

Is there shade?

Yes. We provide shade structures for breaks and lunch.

 

Can kids participate?

Yes — children must be 7 years or older, and supervised by an adult at all times.

 

How do I reserve a spot?

Payment of $200 per person via purchasing here or Venmo/ PayPal is required to hold your space.

Your spot is not confirmed until payment is received.

 

What is your cancellation policy?

If the event is cancelled due to weather, you may:

✔ reschedule to a future dig day, or

✔ request a refund

 

If you are unable to attend for personal reasons, please contact us as early as possible. Spots are very limited (max 6 people), so we may be able to fill your spot with another guest.

 

Do participants keep what they find?

Yes — all specimens that you personally dig are yours to take home.

 

Do we sign a waiver?

Yes. Every attendee must sign a waiver before entering the dig site.

 

Is the terrain difficult?

Terrain varies by dig site. Some areas include loose rock, slopes, and uneven ground. Participants should feel comfortable walking and digging on natural terrain.
